Effective employment support for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Communities

The Institute for Employment has recently published two reports, one reviewing the effectiveness (or percieved effectiveness) of work coaches in supporting people in to employment, the second a summary of submissions from the sector about the future of employment support here in England.

Nottingham consistently sees unemployment rates (by claimant count) higher than that of the national and regional averages (5.7%, 3.7% and 3.3% respectively for May 2023). In addition there are many pockets within Nottinghamshire (Lower Super Output Areas), that face similarly high levels of unemployment.

It would be interesting to understand across the two areas, just exactly what is stopping people from moving in to employment, how this is different from other areas in the East Midlands and the UK and how we can go about addressing this as a community.
